Never Give a Sucker an Even Break (1941)

NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK  (1941)
    D: Edward Cline                                                       ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢
W.C. Fields, Gloria Jean, Leon Errol,
    Franklin Pangborn, Margaret Dumont
The Great W.C. pitches a script in Hollywood, flirts with Margaret Dumont, crosses paths with a mountain gorilla and a saber-toothed dog, and dives out of a perfectly good airplane to retrieve a bottle of booze. Arguably Fields' craziest film, and his last starring role. The stunts and gags and muttered asides are as funny as ever, but the alcohol was catching up to him by then. You can see it in his face.
